Chaplain’s Corner July 4th, 2020

Happy 4th of July!

Brethren, to echo our Worshipful Master, I hope this message finds you well and spending time with your family. This day of celebration recognizes the day a group of ordinary men (many of them Masons) declared Independence from England in the name of certain inhalable rights. Among them the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

This declaration of an idea for our future has grown and perfected over the last 244 years and will continue. What began as an ideal has faced and overcome many challenges. Thousands of our fellow countryman have given their lives and life’s work to make the ideas in our Declaration of Independence become a reality. The beauty of our nation is the determined pursuit of happiness and the goals our forebearers passed down to us. We all have the responsibility to champion the cause of liberty and protecting its future!

In his second inaugural address Abraham Lincoln said:
“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan—to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”

The gift of our nation bears the responsibility to protect and nourish this gift and ideal.

It is only fitting to share with you the prayer we give when we pledge allegiance to our flag:

Almighty Father of us all, humbly we ask Thy blessing upon this symbol of our Land our Homes, our Liberties, more especially we beseech Thee to open our eyes that we may more fully enshrine within our hearts the heritage which is ours, the value of our liberties, the glory of that symbol before which we bow in reverence only less than that which we kneel to Thee. Suffer us all to pledge anew in our hearts, as we have pledged with our lips, an undying devotion to the Flag, which stands for the America we love.  Amen!

I personally wish each and everyone a safe and Happy Independence Day and the joy and responsibility is symbolizes.

Worshipful Shawn Lopez’s daughter Jenna had emergency appendix surgery on Friday, June 26th. We are glad to learn she is doing well and we wish her a speedy recovery.

George Koester our esteemed Secretary continues to do well recovering from his stomach illness. His tests are complete with no conclusive results.

Buddy Berrisford has recovered from a bout with vertigo. He will be going for shoulder surgery in a few months. We will have updates as the time gets closer.

George Johnson, a member of Gardens Lodge and a frequent visitor at Jupiter Light Lodge passed to that House Not Made with Hands on June 19th. A joint Gardens and Jupiter Lodge’s masonic graveside service will be held as a part of the graveside service on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11:00 am. The service will be held at the National Cemetery Lake Worth, FL, located at 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449. All of the craft is invited to attend and pay respects to our departed Brother.

We all know our God is with us and will guide us through this time and all the times of sadness and tribulation.

Your lodge would like to know how all our brethren and their families are doing during this difficult time. Please let the Worshipful Master and I know how you and your family are doing.
